The 1808/7 Half Cent is one of only two overdates in the Draped Bust series (the other is the 1802/0). This overdated obverse was used with two different reverses, resulting in two die varieties: Cohen 1 and Cohen 2. 1808/7 Cohen 1 is a very rare variety and has been quite elusive, though a few low-grade examples have shown up on Internet auctions. 1808/7 Cohen 2 is scarce but in great demand because of its appearance as a distinct variety in most price guides. High grade examples are very rare; in fact, no Mint State 1808/7 Half Cent is known to exist.
