About This Set: I originally completed the 5 Deutsche Mark set sometime in 2013 or 2014. The set consisted of circulated coins, with many uncirculated coins in the later dates. It was a pretty average set. Rather than stopping there, I decided I'd slowly try to upgrade it to a 100% uncirculated set as a side project. I upgraded about 15 of the coins between 2014 and 2018, which made it better but not great. Starting in 2019, I decided to focus on it some more and eventually get all of my coins certified. At that point it became clear that I had a long way to go. 73 coins is a lot. It takes a while to find 73 really nice coins, particularly for the tougher dates. 2020 was a busy year and when I finally completed the set in uncirculated condition. I finished getting everything certified in early 2021 and have been making upgrades ever since. As of 12/18/23, 61 of the 73 coins in my set were submitted for grading by myself. My current set goal is to find coins in the highest grade or 1 point back from the highest grade.

I've always loved looking at people's sets on the PCGS registry and have wanted to contribute a few myself. This series, on value alone, doesn't make sense to get certified unless you have top coins that are condition rarities. I went ahead and did it anyway because I want to share my progress with the community and other collectors with similar interests. The set now is at a point where about every coin is worth grading. I'll try to annotate my set to share what I've learned in the comments and information about value and pricing in the interest of informing future set builders. It's still a small community. Roughly 12.5% (170 total) of all coins graded at PCGS of this type have been submitted by me. If you add up the owners of the top 3 sets, that accounts for somewhere around 25% of submissions. The total population of this type was ~960 when I initially got this set to 100%. It's now ~1400, about 3.5 years later. That shows that there continues to be appeal in a set like this.

There's a lot of top pop yellow there. Love to see it!

Great looking set! Really exceptional pieces in here and I enjoy the commentary. My favorite is perhaps the 70 J.
