1879 CC Mintage 756,000 GSA 4,123 Observations: Strike average with high point weakness. Luster varies from subdued to adequate to bright. Therefore the look varies. Difficult MS65 and up. Variety CC/CC. Prooflike - more PL and die polish than DMPL but with cameo. DMPL tough.
1880 CC Mintage 591,000 GSA 131,529. Observations: Strike varies average to strong with some weaker centers and eagle. Luster mostly bright and frosty. Can have a varied look and with the reverse of 78. Multiple overdates. Prooflike - often hazy mirrors. Clear PL cameos are desirable.
1881 CC Mintage 296,000 GSA 147,485 Observations: Strike consistently strong and bold. Luster also usually bright, intense and frosty. An attractive date and seen thru high grades. Prooflike - deep mirrors with good cameo.

1889 CC Mintage 350,000 GSA 1 Observations: Strike strong and bold. Luster varies but is muted compared to earlier CC's. The rarest of the CC Morgan's. Less eye appealing than in earlier 80's. Prooflike - A high percentage of pop. are PL. Generally good mirrors but less cameo than earlier CC's.
