About This Set:
This set will ultimately be a tribute to my father. Wilbur Lenard Schoemer, enjoyed the hobby of coin collecting for most of his life. Being born in 1909, he had the opportunity to reach adulthood just in time for the "Great Depression". Because of that, he learned to save any change he had. He observed the great variety in the coins that he was able to put away, and soon was hooked by a hobby that stayed with him the rest of his life. Dad retired as a contractor in 1966, and moved from Montana to San Jose, California to pursue his hobby. He became the proprietor of the "Coin Mart" on the corner of StevensCreek and Sarratoga Ave. for the next 12 or so years. Dad tried to put his customers first, and would take coins out of his own collections, if someone needed them. Because of that, he never got to complete his set. After he passed away, I was given a number of his coins, which gave me a start, and I am in the process of completing the Morgan Dollars. His contracting business was "Sav-A-Buck Lumber and Hardware", hence the name.
