Five is Prime Set

Description: This set combines two of my interests. As a lifelong student of Mathematics, with a primary focus on number theory, the study of prime numbers has always been an interest. My collecting focus is primarily on Liberty Nickels, but my registry sets do include all 5 Cent nickels, from 1866 - date.

Given my interests, this set will include 5 cent nickels that have a year that is a prime number. Since the first year the US minted 5 cent nickels is 1866, this set will start at that date.

Currently, this will include the following dates:

1867, 1871, 1873, 1877, 1879, 1889, 1901, 1907, 1913, 1931, 1933, 1949, 1951, 1973, 1979, 1987, 1993, 1997, 1999, 2003, 2011, 2017

For the US business strikes, all dates except 1877 and 1933 can be found. The only nickels minted in 1877 are the proof only Shield nickels. There are no US nickels dated 1933. For this date I will use a Canadian nickel.

The next year, that is also a prime number, will be 2027.
