Carson City Silver Dollars Complete 1870-1893

Description: What a run! For 23 years from 1870 to 1893, 22 silver dollars from three series: Liberty Seated; Trade; and Morgan, came out of this mint in the heart of the Old West. Production ranged from a miniscule mintage of 1,376 for the 1871-CC Liberty Seated Dollar to over 2 million for the 1878 and 1890 Morgan Dollars. Survivor rates show similar wide disparities, from probably less than 100 coins for the 1873-CC Liberty Seated Dollar to over 1 million, mostly uncirculated, for the 1884-CC Morgan dollar. My goal was to have a uniform looking, circulated set. I chose circulated because I wanted coins with a tangible historical connection, coins that had actually circulated in the Old West. Plus, let’s face it, an UNC set would be prohibitively expensive. But even when an uncirculated example was just a bit more expensive, I stuck with the circulated version. Most of the info in the comments section comes from books by Bowers, Goe and Willem. The survivorship estimates are from Bowers.

This set was a fun challenge to put together.

Great collection! I've found some circulated CC's to be quite a challenge!

Nicely presented set, some great coins in there. The 73-CC Seated is very nice.
