The Syrian Republic was created in 1930 but never became a reality until French troops left the country in 1946. The first coins of the new Republic appeared in 1948. This set includes all eleven of the different denominations and dates issued by the Syrian Republic between 1948 and 1956. Though most of the coins in this set are common, they keys are the gold 1/2 Pound and 1 Pound coins.
