Colin Maguire's Birth Year set - Circulation Strikes

About This Set: This is a set of true circulation strike coins for Colin Maguire born September 30, 2006. This is a difficult set to put together in the top grades and I made most of these coins and many of the coins in the “other” top sets. At least $30K in face value was searched, by myself, for my son’s set – I enjoy the hunt. 2006 mint sets, the normal source for high grade circulation strike coins, were made from special "satin" finished dies; high end circulation strike coins could only be found in bank rolls meant for commercial use. The exceptions are the Kennedy half and Sacagawea dollar which could only be purchased straight from the mint. Many issues from this year, available in mint rolls were plagued by coins that were struck by grease filled dies. The Jefferson nickels were especially awful but also many of the state quarters rolls an bags were mostly worth face value. The true high end coins, were found in rolls from banks. In many ways this search is the way it should be; coins from true circulation sources at their most rare conditions.
