About This Set:
I have been fascinated with collecting Lincoln pennies since my childhood. I used to fill five gallon water bottles with pennies while searching for the wheatbacks. I was able to complete a raw set in the old blue books by the time I was in high school. I started attending coin conventions in the year 2001 with my son and his interest sparked my renewed interest in the higher grade Lincoln pennies. We set a goal of achieving an all red mint state set. The journey has been a long and rewarding one. It has strengthened the bond between my son and I as we have worked to assemble the collection together. Several of the coins in our current collection were obtained from my childhood set. I would like to thank Ira Stein, Jimmy Sprankle, and Andy Skrabalak for their guidance and wisdom and without whose help this collection would not have been possible. Each of them has contributed to our effort to assemble this set in their own unique way. They taught me patience and perfection are required qualities for a coin collector. They are all an asset to the hobby. In 2008 we decided to sell the set. Ira Stein assisted in the transaction and his help throughout our coin collecting career has been truly invaluable.
